Carnaby Temple - Also called the Pepperpot by local people. In a field between Carnaby village and Woldgate, it is best accessed from Woldgate. It was built by the Strickland family of Boynton Hall about 1770. It is 8-sided and based on the Greek Temple of the Winds. It was used briefly as a look-out post for the Stricklands' ships coming back from America, but soon abandoned. During WWII, it was again used as a look-out post for a while.
